How to apply for Dual Credit

To apply for a dual credit class, students will need to meet the necessary student eligibility requirements and then submit the following through the ONLINE REGISTRATION FORMS provided below.

All dual credit courses offered on our campus are provided below for your reference.

Please fill out the registration forms COMPLETELY including semester, course subject, catalog #, high school course, contact information, LSC or HCC student ID #, contact information, location, parent, student, and counselor signatures, etc.

Note:

  1. Please note that 8th-grade students are NOT allowed to take dual credit classes over the summer.

  2. Incomplete or late submissions will NOT be accepted. The deadline for HCC is Tuesday, March 17, 2024, at 4 pm. For Lone Star, the deadline is Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 4 pm.

  3. Please make sure to submit the enrollment form for EACH DUAL CREDIT COURSES YOU WILL BE TAKING NEXT YEAR checking the document provided below. Otherwise, you will NOT be taking any course if you did not submit the required documents.

How to Apply

These guides are created for our dual credit students to use for their course applications. ApplyTexas will be used for any students seeking admission for Fall 2024. To apply for a dual credit class, students will need to meet the necessary dual credit placement scores (DC Placement Scores – Original TSI, DC Placement Chart-New) and will need to create an ApplyTexas account (ApplyTexas DC Guide) Then submit the following to the campus admissions office before or when registering:

  1. Meet all course prerequisites and minimum college readiness test scores in reading, writing, and/or math for enrolled courses

  2. Go to the ApplyTexas Website and use the (ApplyTexas DC Guide) to complete the application.

  3. Upon receipt of your LSC Student ID # via email, submit the following electronic form: Course Approval Form for Fall 2024 courses you will be taking next school year by the deadline of Sunday, April 14th, 2024 at 4:00 pm. Course Approval form will be available for the Fall 2024 beginning Monday, March 25th. If a student has added the following courses in their course request, you will need to submit the Lone Star form for Fall 2024:

    • English 1301 (English 3-D (11th grade), English IV-D (12th grade))

    • Math 1314 (Pre-Calc Dual)

    • Biology 2401 (Anatomy & Physiology-D)

    • Musi 1306 (Music Studies Music Appr. I-D)

  4. When completing the Section # and Course # form for each course, please add “0000“. For “Subject” and “Catalog #” you will put for example Subject “English” and Course Catalog: “1301” if the class you are submitting it for.

  5. College Ready TSI Test Scores (Depends on Courses – Please check the Course Matrix for College Core Curriculum Completion for more details)

  6. Upon submission of the Course Approval Form, your counselor will receive an email to verify the courses listed for correct enrollment and to approve your submitted form.

  7. If approved, a waiver will be applied to cover tuition costs.

NOTE:

  • For all students to take dual credit courses for next year, course request submission MUST be made by Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 4:00 pm. After the Deadline, dual credit course requests will NOT be considered.

  • The Course Approval form MUST be submitted by Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 4:00 pm.

  • Please make sure you submit only 1 enrollment form for all of the courses you will be taking for Fall 2024, if applicable.

  • No submissions will be accepted AFTER the deadline (Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 4:00 pm).

Dual Credit During Summer:

Students who choose to take dual credit during the summer break will only be allowed to take the following courses:

  • Texas Government (Govt 2306)

  • Introduction to Communication (SPCH 1318) or Public Speaking (SPCH 1315)

  • Principles of Sociology (Soci 1301)

For students who take dual credit over the summer, payment will covered by the student. The campus will not be covering payment for summer dual credit courses. Starting at the start of the 2023-2024 school year, any course taken off the student’s schedule -(including dual and online in the summer) will receive on-level (out of 4.0) grade points corresponding with the grade earned. 

How to Drop a Course:

Please submit the Lone Star Dual Credit Add Drop Form by filling out the following form: Lone Star Fillable DC Drop/Add Form

Counselor and Student are expected to sign the form. The counselor will share the signed form with Lone Star.

HCC Dual Credit

Houston Community College (HCC)

How to Apply

To apply for a dual credit class, students will need to meet the necessary student eligibility requirements and then submit the following online registration form for each community college before or when registering:

  1. Get approval from the high school counselor

  2. Meet all course prerequisites and minimum college readiness test scores in reading, writing, and/or math for enrolled courses

  3. Go to the GoApplyTexas Website and use the (GoApplyTexas DC Guide) to complete the application.

  4. Upon receipt of your HCC ID number via email, submit the following forms through the HCC Dual Credit Online Registration Form for courses you will be taking next year by the deadline of Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 4:00 pm (The registration form submitted without an HCC STUDENT ID # will NOT be accepted):

    1. HCC Dual Credit Waiver Form– On the form where it asks for the following information, please put the following:

      • Beginning Semester: “Fall 2024”

      • Ending Semester: “Spring 2025”

      • Academic Program: “Liberal Arts and Humanities”

      • Academic Degree: “Associate of Arts”

    2. High School Transcript

    3. College Ready TSI Test Results- You can access your TSI scores by going to https://www.accuplacer.org/ and clicking on “Information for Students” under the Student Portal. Afterward, click on “your accuplacer or TSI2 Score Report” to enter your information. You will need your TSDS ID Number for “Student ID” and you may ask your counselor. If you have any questions, please contact your counselor

    4. Immunization Records (The immunization must have been received within the last five years. Documentation must be in English and submitted with the HCC Meningitis Vaccination Verification Form.) and click on “Information for Students”

    5. HCC Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Verification Form

  5. Upon submission of the Survey, your counselor will review your course requests for approval

  6. If approved, a waiver will be applied to cover tuition costs and you will receive a notification to proceed with enrollment upon completion to proceed with enrollment using PeopleSoft Student

NOTE:

  • All dual credit course requests MUST be entered in Skyward by Wednesday, March 06, 2024, at 4:00 pm.

  • Please use this course list to fill out your application form.

  • Please do NOT send any documents via email. The requests that are sent by email or handed to any school staff will NOT be considered. We will ONLY ACCEPT online submissions via the Online Registration Form.

  • Any application form without a parent/guardian and counselor signature will NOT be considered. Please make sure you have them before submission.

  • Please make sure you submit only 1 enrollment form for all of the courses you will be taking next year.

  • No submissions will be accepted AFTER the deadline (Tuesday, March 19th, 2024 at 4 pm). It is the students’/ parents/guardians` responsibility to ensure that all required information is provided and the request forms are submitted by the deadline.
